Why we are called Silence Between Sirens

People ask about the name.
Sirens are the visible part of this work. The callout, the blue lights, the incident everyone sees. It is what the job looks like from the outside, and often what it is measured by.
But the sirens are not where the harm settles. That happens in the silence between them. The drive home after a job you cannot shake. The quiet after a shift. The space between one call and the next, where what you carried is still there and no one is looking.
That is where the weight builds. Not in the moment of crisis, but in the gaps around it - carried alone, shift after shift. The silence between sirens is the part no one sees, and it is where people slip out of reach long before anyone would call it a crisis.
Our name is a reminder of where to look. Not only at the incident, but at the quiet that follows it. Not only at the person in obvious difficulty, but at the one who has gone quiet between the jobs.
Support belongs in that silence. That is the whole idea.
