Support, before breaking point

Silence Between Sirens graphic: You do not have to earn help by falling apart first

Our strapline is four words: support, before breaking point.

The “before” is the whole idea. Most support in this world is built to catch people at the point of crisis, the moment things break. That matters, and it has to exist. But by then, a lot has already happened that did not have to.

Before breaking point is the long stretch where someone is not in crisis but is not okay either. Coping, but on less and less. Still functioning, but paying for it quietly. That stretch can last months or years, and it is where support does the most good and is most often absent.

Before breaking point means you do not have to earn help by falling apart first. You do not have to be at your worst to deserve support. The bar is not crisis. The bar is “this is getting hard”, and that is reason enough.

Get this right, and fewer people reach breaking point at all - because something reached them earlier, when reaching them was easier.

You do not have to be at breaking point to reach out.
